Leamington Food & Drink Festival returns

The highly popular Royal Leamington Spa Food & Drink Festival returns for a fourth year on Saturday 10 & Sunday 11 September in the Royal Pump Room Gardens. The Festival, which is free to attend, will yet again feature an exciting action-packed programme over the two days.
Attracting over 17,000 visitors last year, it is set to be a fabulous, fun filled weekend of activities and entertainment that will have everyone’s taste buds tingling and feet tapping.
Visitors can enjoy demonstrations by Celebrity Chef ‘Rustie Lee’, live music from local bands, radio broadcasts, inspirational cookery demonstrations in the AGA Rangemaster Live Kitchen, an International Food Market, competitions and over 100 culinary traders. The ever popular Taste Trail is also set to return and will once again raise money for charity plus visitors will have the chance to win dinner for two! By visiting the website, visitors can also enter their details to be in with the chance of winning a £250 hamper!
Rustie Lee will perform three demonstrations in the Live Kitchen on the Sunday. Making her name and reputation as Britain’s No 1 authority on Caribbean cooking during her 8 years on TV-am, Rustie has become a household name throughout the UK. Her demonstrations are renowned for being great fun whilst learning something new.
Celebrate Mexican Independence Day with Discovery, the leader in contemporary Mexican food. They will be offering an exceptional array of Mexican food, from the perfect fajita – succulent chicken or vegetables wrapped in a soft flour tortilla, topped with guacamole, salsa and soured cream, to tasty beef tacos garnished with a variety of mouth watering toppings. Bread and Co Catering, who have two shops in Leamington and stock the finest local artisan breads, cakes and pastries, will be running the popular Café during the Festival.
Live music will be performed on the Band Stand by a number of talented bands including the Sheila Fawkes Jazz Band, Gebby Eaton and Lament who bring together a fusion of Latin, jazz and flamenco sounds. Visitors will also be able to use their Little Book of Offers which features over 100 fantastic and exclusive discounts, promotions and free give-aways across a wide range of products and services in the town.
Planning is already well underway and those who want to participate are urged to book now. Last year the Festival attracted over 100 exhibitors representing local, regional, national and international produce and products. All the exhibitors reported increased awareness of their brands and significant sales.
The Festival is organised by BID Leamington and funded by local businesses. Stephanie Kerr, of BID Leamington, stated “With so many exciting events and activities happening, our 2011 Festival will be a fantastic weekend! It’s a wonderful opportunity for visitors to experience the many culinary delights, entertainment, beautiful gardens and the fabulous town centre that is here in Royal Leamington Spa”.
