Silverstone Auctions will hold its inaugural classic, competition and super car sale on Saturday 23 July, in Hall 1 of The Wing building during the Silverstone Classic weekend. With VIP parking at the circuit entrance and a VIP collection service directly into the Wing paddock for easy auction access, the sale event is open to both buyers already attending the Classic weekend as well as those visiting Silverstone just for the auction. Free viewing is available throughout the Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the Classic, with the sale starting at 5.00pm.

“The Silverstone Classic is an important weekend in the European racing calendar, and this is reflected in the significant road and race cars consigned for sale,” says Silverstone Auctions managing director Nick Whale. “We appreciate many interested potential buyers will already be at Silverstone that weekend, but we also welcome guests attending just for the sale who want to take advantage of our VIP shuttle service direct to The Wing.

“The catalogue includes some rare and one-off cars, but we also have an excellent selection of road and race cars that may appeal to those making a first classic car purchase, or who want to complement their collection with some diverse models. Of particular interest is the strong group of Jaguar models, especially in the E-Type’s anniversary year.”

A 1958 AC Ace Bristol, registration 50 FPF, has joined the roster of important cars offered for sale. Winning three races at Silverstone in 1958 and 1959, it featured on the April 1959 Autosport front cover and in the acclaimed “Ace Bristol - The Racing History” book. Presented in very good order with an engine rebuild by Ian Nuttall and complete ground-up restoration by Hexagon Classics chairman Paul Michaels in the 1980s, it is expected to achieve upwards of £180,000.

A 1950 Bristol 400 Saloon, one of 600 examples of the Bristol Aeroplane Company’s first foray into cars, was originally sold in Australia and shipped back to the UK in just 2009. The six-cylindered 713 YUB, with a top speed of around 92 mph, is taxed and MOT tested and estimated between £40,000 and £44,000.

An important Jaguar model alongside two rare outside bonnet lock E-Types, is a 1962 E-Type 3.8 FHC, first registered to Frank Raymond Wilton ‘Lofty’ England in January 1963 as his company car. Still carrying the famous works registration number 6515 VC and painted to his special order in Golden Sand Metallic, it includes a number of his own factory extras including unique fresh air vents, a concealed compartment and a fitted glove box lid. An essential part of Jaguar Cars’ history, it is estimated at £55,000 to £65,000.

A Jaguar XK 150, which was being made at Jaguar’s Browns Lane factory alongside the pre-production E-Types offered by Silverstone Auctions, has been consigned from fastidious ownership. Recognised by Jaguar authorities as being the youngest remaining XK 150, it is presented in stylish Dove Grey with a red leather interior. Subtly ‘enhanced’ to make continental tours an effortless pleasure, it is predicted to reach in excess of £65,000.

A 1967 Jaguar D-Type Evocation Replica in period British racing green has an Adrian Reynard-designed multi-tubular steel space frame, with a composite and Kevlar fire retardant lightweight body frame following the exacting lines of the original donor vehicle: a 1967 highly tuned 4.2 litre straight six Jaguar XK twin overhead cam, also fully restored to road specification.

Ideal and affordable classic driving comes with a limited edition 1970 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior Zagato, which epitomises the designers’ brief to achieve exceptional handling and an aerodynamic and lightweight body. With rear wheel drive and a full history, it’s estimated at between £14,000 and £17,000. Or for earlier Italian ‘fun’ a 1926 FIAT 503B two-seater open tourer, complete with Dickey Seat, is estimated from £8,000.
