Celebrating the Glorious Grouse at Swinton Park

21st June 2011 Print

Following on from Swinton Park’s recent coverage in the highly popular ITV “The Dales” series, the hotel has launched a “Glorious Grouse” dinner.

The film crew shadowed members of staff at the hotel and on the estate for five days last summer, focussing on the hotel’s commitment to locally sourced food and the start of the grouse season on the moor. Local game dealer, Richard Townsend of Yorkshire Game, also featured on the 12th August as he collected the grouse from the moor during the day in order to deliver them in time for dinner at Swinton Park and the top London restaurants.

The Glorious Grouse dinner is being held on Thursday 18th August. It celebrates the beginning of the Game Season, with grouse sourced from the moorland on Swinton Estate and seasonal produce (both wild and cultivated) from the hotel’s parkland and four acre walled garden. The evening starts with pre-dinner champagne, and dinner is served with fine wine carefully selected to complement each dish, and introduced by wine merchant James Goodhart of Bon Coeur Fine Wines.

The evening costs £65 per person (including champagne and wine).
