Peugeot's latest TV ad celebrates 'spirit of rallying'

27th June 2011 Print

Euro RSCG London has released a new TV commercial for Peugeot UK, highlighting their passion for the world of rallying. The ‘spirit’ of rallying, overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles and never giving up is ingrained within Peugeot's DNA and present in every car they build. Peugeot has a proud history in motorsport and have been involved since 1894.

Peugeot UK are currently supporting British Driver Guy Wilks driving a Peugeot 207 S2000 in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) and he features at the end of the spot.

However, this commercial is not just aimed at dedicated rally enthusiasts but at a much broader audience of anybody who enjoys driving. By looking through the eyes of children who still believe that cars can do 'anything' the passion and spirit of adventure is made clear. The TV ad launched during the 'Europa cup final' on Channel 5 and will run in two week bursts until October 5 on Channel 5.

The 30 second ad features children playing with their toy cars, totally engrossed in a world of their own play and imagination. The children make their cars do ever more outrageous manoeuvres, skidding around bannisters, flying over jumps, tumbling down the stairs and we hear a voice over saying " remember that feeling when your car could do anything? " The action then cuts from a young boy driving his Scalextric car to Guy Wilks' real Peugeot 207 S2000 rally car roaring around a corner on a rally stage.
The voiceover then continues "at Peugeot we never lost it".

The campaign is also supported by an online game called 'Tour de floor' available to play on the Peugeot UK Facebook page: facebook.com/#!/peugeotuk?sk=app_174054972650108. Euro RSCG 4D have developed this interactive online rally game which puts you at the wheel of a toy Peugeot 207 S2000 as it races around the floor of the house where the TV spot was filmed. With the help of a photo mapping programme you can download a photo of your face which will then appear in the driver’s seat.

The commercial was written by Harry Stanford and Mike Insley and directed by Charlie Crane through Knucklehead.
