Home Counties developer Weston Homes took part in a Robin Reliant charity drive across Europe called the “Numball Rally”.

The rally started on Wednesday June 22nd to Sunday June 26th to raise money for Breast Cancer Research, Save the Children and Dr Barnado’s. 11 iconic Robin Reliants set off from Weston Homes’ head office in Takeley, Essex, before embarking on a 900 mile journey through Denmark, Germany and Holland.

A group of 22 friends and colleagues, comprising chairmen and executive board members of property companies, were driving the three-wheeled Robin Reliants. The vintage cars, ranging from 1972 to 1988, have been carefully restored and were themed on famous films and television shows including Star Wars, Only Fools and Horses, Mad Max and a James Bond Aston Robin.

Now in its fifth year, the Numball Rally began in 2007 on motorbikes and in 2008 switched to Robin Reliants as an ironic compromise between the two-wheel and four-wheel vehicle.

Starting in Takeley, Essex, the convoy set off for Harwich where a ferry took the group to Esbjerg in Denmark by Thursday afternoon. From there, the convoy headed to Hamburg before departing for Berlin on Friday morning and Amsterdam on Saturday. The cars departed for the Hook of Holland on Sunday morning by ferry before concluding the journey from Harwich back to Takeley.

One of the participants, Bob Weston, Chief Executive and Chairman of Weston Homes, said: “The Numball Rally is held every year to raise money for charity and has now become a tradition. It has always been fun and we look forward to raising a lot of money for a number of worthy causes.”
