Rail Europe partners with TripAdvisor in industry first

7th July 2011 Print

Rail Europe has partnered with TripAdvisor in an industry first to integrate rail itineraries alongside flight information within a travel website’s meta-search engine.

Customers searching on TripAdvisor’s website will now see both flight and rail information when searching for travel options from London to more than 10,000 European destinations.

Travellers will now be able to compare rail and flight information on price and availability using one, easy-to-use website instead of having to search various sources.

Stuart Alldis, Head of e-commerce at Rail Europe, says: “We are pleased to be involved in a partnership with TripAdvisor to bring choice and convenience to customers wanting to travel from the UK to Europe.

“TripAdvisor is the first meta-search engine to fully integrate rail networks. It's the first time a travel website has run rail itineraries alongside flight information. Customers will now be able to compare alternative means of travel alongside each other and consider using rail, which is a more carbon-friendly way to travel.”

“With the integration of rail itineraries into TripAdvisor Flights, we now offer travellers not only a comprehensive flight search on the Web, but also an easy way to compare train options,” said Bryan Saltzburg, general manager of New Initiatives at TripAdvisor. “This is especially helpful when planning a trip through Europe, where there are more high-speed rail options now than ever before and hundreds of millions of travellers opt for train travel each year. Our partnership with Rail Europe is integral to this exciting initiative and we’re very pleased to be working with such a leading player in the rail industry.”
