California Tourism is pleased to declare summer 2011 ‘The Royal Summer’ with the launch of a new campaign - Three Days Isn’t Enough - as the State prepares to roll out the golden carpet for William and Kate on 8th July.

During their three day tour the Royal couple will be visiting Los Angeles and Santa Barbara and seeing just a tiny part of all that the Golden State has to offer – this global campaign will highlight some of the places and activities they could have experienced had they had more time.

The campaign includes the debut of a specially produced Royal advert, for use online in the UK, showcasing diverse California locations and activities that might appeal to William and Kate’s interests including white water rafting in Gold Country, soaking in Mammoth’s hot springs, kayaking in Mono Lake and hiking in Mendocino. The advert can be seen on visitcalifornia.co.uk from 4th July.

The website also has a variety of Royal Summer packages. Hotels, attractions and venues statewide have created special offers and playfully-themed experiences giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy California with a distinctly regal twist, and at any budget. The packages follow in Will and Kate’s footsteps, embrace their active lifestyle or offer a luxury holiday fit for a King-to-be.

“We’ve crowned this The Royal Summer in California,” said Caroline Beteta, California Travel & Tourism Commission President and CEO, “to truly own our incredible enthusiasm for this once-in-a-generation occasion. We know the Duke and Duchess are here on official business and have a productive schedule ahead of them in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, yet we couldn’t pass up this golden opportunity to point out what they could do with more time in California. From our iconic cities and natural wonders, to the amazing beaches, restaurants and wineries, theme parks and resorts, California has much to offer the royal couple – and visitors from around the world. We welcome them to return, and we also invite travellers to take their own Royal California Holiday.”
