The site manager at Persimmon’s Beechwood Green development in Crewkerne was so impressed with the homes there that he has snapped up the first property himself.

Lee Swanage, his wife, Macaila, and their three children became the very first buyers when they bought Plot 1 at the select development in the historic market town of Crewkerne in Somerset.

Lee says: “We’d been thinking about moving for a while and then I built homes at Beechwood Green and we said ‘Let’s go for it’. As site manager I know what I’m building and I know the quality of the properties at Beechwood Green.”

Persimmon’s Part Exchange Plus scheme made it possible for Lee to secure Plot 1 and enjoy a stress-free move to his new home. Part Exchange Plus is a secure way of purchasing a property without having to market and sell your home through an agent. Buyers simply have to trade up in price by a minimum of 30 per cent on the development.

The scheme meant Lee and his wife didn’t have to try to keep their existing house constantly tidy for viewings – no mean feat with three children! Plus, Persimmon paid Lee’s estate agent fees, enabling him to move out of his old home and into his new one without any hassle on the same day.

For Lee and his family, Plot 1, a four bedroom Braunton design, was exactly what they were looking for. Lee explains: “I particularly like the way it’s laid out and the fact we’ve got a good-sized garden and a double garage. It’s perfect for us as a young family.”

They moved into their new home at the end of May and are busy getting to know their new neighbours, while 11-year-old daughter Tegan can walk to Maiden Beech Middle School which backs onto the Beechwood Green site.

“We’ve just had brand new neighbours,” says Lee. “It’s an exciting time for us, getting to know them and settling into our fabulous new home.”

Nina Hester, sales director for Persimmon Homes South West, adds: “What better endorsement is there for the quality of a development than the site manager himself choosing to make it his new home!”

There are a total of eight properties currently on release at Beechwood Green. These include the two bedroom Blackdown house-type which is particularly attractive for first-time buyers struggling to get a foothold on the property ladder, thanks to Persimmon Homes and its Government-backed HomeBuy Direct scheme.

The scheme assists households that earn less than £60,000, who could not otherwise afford to purchase a suitable property unassisted on the open market, to buy a home.

The HomeBuy Direct scheme is available on both the semi-detached Blackdown properties currently available at Beechwood Green. The popular design includes its own garage and also features an en-suite to the master bedroom and good-sized kitchen/dining room. It is priced at £159,995.

Also currently available at Beechwood Green is the three bedroom detached Sidbury house-type which comes complete with en-suite to the master bedroom and single garage and is priced from £224,995.

Beechwood Green benefits from an attractive semi-rural location with countryside views to the south.

Nearby Crewkerne retains much charm from the bustle of previous centuries and has a total of five schools and excellent public services. Situated nine miles south west of Yeovil and seven miles from Chard, it lies on the River Parrett, A30 road and the West of England Main Line railway with direct links to Lyme Regis and Waterloo. Crewkerne railway station is served by South West Trains.
