Stadco marks official opening of new plant in Telford
Stadco, the largest independent UK-based international supplier of automotive Body-in-White products and services, yesterday celebrated the official opening of its new manufacturing plant in Telford, which the company acquired earlier this year.
The new plant acquisition will ultimately result in 50 new jobs being created at the site, with a further 30 staff having been required during the start up phase. The Telford site is 18 acres in size and includes room for future expansion.
Mark Pritchard, Member of Parliament for The Wrekin, was on hand to officially open the plant, commenting: “I warmly welcome Stadco’s investment and expansion into Telford. The future for the automotive sector is looking increasingly positive for those automotive manufacturers who innovative, design, and produce high quality automotive parts and products. The technical and manufacturing skills cluster available in Telford also makes Stadco’s decision the right one”.
Local dignitaries, Councillor Kuldip Sahota, leader of Telford & Wrekin Council and Councillor Malcolm and Mrs Christine Smith, the Mayor and Mayoress of Telford & Wrekin, were also in attendance.
Professor Garel Rhys CBE, the UK’s foremost academic observer of the global motor industry, spoke about the importance of the automotive sector in contributing to skills and manufacturing in the UK.
On show at the opening event was an impressive display of vehicles for which Stadco supplies parts, including: Jaguar XF, Jaguar XJ, Jaguar XK, Land Rover Freelander, Land Rover Defender, Land Rover Discovery, Land Rover Range Rover, Land Rover Range Rover Sport, MINI Hatch, Ford Focus, Ford C-MAX and Ford Transit.
Managing Director Dermot Sterne commented: “Today’s event is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate this key milestone in Stadco’s development and, importantly, thank our colleagues for the hard work and skill required to launch this plant in record time. Thanks must also go to our customers and suppliers for their continued support.”
