Longaberger readies for big week of golf in mid August

6th August 2011 Print

Longaberger Golf Club, a Billy Casper Golf-managed property, welcomes golfers to participate in two new upcoming events: The World’s Largest Golf Outing on August 18, and a play date with Masters and U.S. Open Champion Billy Casper on August 21.

Longaberger will be one of more than 80 courses in 24 states to participate in the “World’s Largest Golf Outing” on August 18, benefiting the Wounded Warriors Project.

The outing is the brainchild of Billy Casper Golf (BCG), owner and operator of more than 125 golf courses, country clubs and resorts. BCG projects more than 5,000 golfers will participate, shattering the current world record.

The event at Longaberger is open to the public; participation costs $79 per player and includes greens fee and cart, range balls, boxed lunch, on-course contests and prizes. The shotgun start is at 8:30 a.m.; registration opens at 6:30 a.m. An awards ceremony will follow play.

The simultaneous national golf outing – to enter the Guinness Book of World Records – is open to golfers of all abilities and does not require a USGA handicap.

A portion of proceeds benefits the Wounded Warrior Project, the non-profit organization raising awareness about and tending to the needs of injured service members. Wounded Warriors will also play golf at select outings.

“Our hats off to Billy Casper Golf for pioneering this very creative program,” says Adam Silva, Chief Development Officer of the Wounded Warrior Project. “The ultimate beneficiaries are the Wounded Warriors and their families who rely on such support.”
