Italian brake manufacturer Tarox may be the first choice for many motorsport and tuning applications, but not all enthusiasts know that the respected firm also offers a vast range of ultra-high performance disc and pad upgrades for classic cars. Unsurprisingly, many of these applications are for Italy’s finest sports offerings of the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Cars like the Lamborghini Miura, LM002 and Countach, Ferrari Dino and 365 GTB/4, Maserati’s Indy and Merak, Alfa’s GTA and Montreal and even Lancia’s Fulvia can all be enhanced with a set of Tarox discs and pads, to endow modern-day stopping power upon these iconic classics.

Although the list of fitments is decidedly retro, the technology behind these brake upgrades is very much bang up to date. Each of these kits offer a direct replacement to the OEM parts – but with significantly greater performance and much less tendency to fade.

Each disc undergoes a structural stress-relieving heat treatment at the end of each machining cycle which increases durability and massively reduces the risk of warping under repeated heavy braking.

All discs are CNC machine-faced for the perfect braking surface, down to a tolerance of 0.015mm, not only resulting in the perfect performance, but also the perfect finish, to accentuate the overall look of the car.

Naturally all styles are available in a smooth, factory like finish, but thanks to the hand-finished nature of the product, enthusiasts using their car in classic motorsport can also choose from a spirally grooved F2000 style for additional pad facing and cooling.

The perfect discs need the perfect pads, and here Tarox have ticked all of the boxes, too. Corsa or Track pads range from mild to wild, allowing enthusiasts the ability to tailor their cars’ braking performance to suit their driving style and usage. Corsa offers the perfect compromise for cars that live dual lives on road and circuit, whilst ‘Track’ delivers race-winning performance in circuit environments where nothing else matters but ultimate performance.

If you have the good taste to run something classic and Italian.. when it comes to making it stop, choose something innovative and Italian!

Prices start at £235 + VAT for the Fulvia discs
