Forge launches new Mini R56/R57 intercooler upgrade

The latest sublime creation from the development team at Forge Motorsport will enhance the life of many ‘hot’ Mini owners. The Gloucestershire-based engineering firm has created a simply stunning new intercooler upgrade to fit all turbo models from the 2007 model year onwards. This part covers both the R56 and R57 models.

The new Forge intercooler is significantly more efficient than the stock part – as well as being much easier on the eye. Aesthetics aside, it helps the car to achieve more power by reducing the intake air temperature and increasing the density of the charge mixture within the combustion chamber.

As one has come to expect from a company whose clients include many leading motorsport teams – and more than a few defence contractors – the quality of construction is unparalleled. The unit is based around a combined 80/40mm high thermal efficiency core, with a 250% larger surface area and a 125% thicker base core. This dyno-proven combination has been found to produce the very best possible results.

This was borne out during testing, when even at relatively low road speeds and air velocities, the Forge intercooler was able to better the performance of the stock unit by some nine degrees centigrade, with greater improvements being achievable during greater speeds during track testing.

Each intercooler is hand-fabricated here in the UK and draws on Forge’s considerable experience in competition preparation. Despite this, and the proven performance gains, it costs just £442.80 including VAT.
