Rush to The Edge for a genuine bargain

The Edge

The Edge, Bloor Homes’ new development in Dunstable, represents a golden opportunity to buy a home with valuable financial support, thanks to the Government HomeBuy Direct scheme. But purchasers will have to move fast: there are just eleven homes left in this phase of The Edge. The available properties include the site’s show homes, providing buyers with the chance of saving even more money by moving into their dream home, available with all furnishings at a reduced price.

The Edge is a superb collection of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses, ensuring a varied mixture of households to make up a vibrant community. The available properties include a 1-bedroom apartment (priced at £114,950), two 2-bedroom apartments (from £129,950), three 3-bedroom houses (from £199,950) and a four-bedroom house (at £264,950). With HomeBuy Direct, these prices will be even lower.

HomeBuy Direct is a Government-backed scheme designed to make more new homes affordable for first-time buyers and others who struggle to buy their own home on the open market. Buyers at The Edge who qualify under the terms of HomeBuy Direct pay just 80% of the purchase price of their new home up front; the remaining 20% is paid for by a loan provided by the Government and Bloor Homes. After 25 years, or when they sell or transfer their property (whichever is sooner), they simply pay back 20% of your home's market value at that time.

The scheme provides much-needed support in these days of cautious bank lending and large deposits: it means that first-time buyers need find a much smaller deposit for their lender. The figures speak for themselves: HomeBuy Direct buyers will pay just £91,960 for the one-bedroom apartment at The Edge, and from £159,960 for a three-bedroom house.

“It’s worth hurrying along to The Edge,” comments Vanessa Macnee, Sales Director of Bloor Homes. “The success of the development with families and first-time buyers is creating a truly diverse and lively community. We don’t expect the remaining properties to hang around for long, and with the chance of buying a show home and obtaining HomeBuy Direct funding, The Edge really does present a rare opportunity for homebuyers to pick up a genuine bargain.”

All the homes at The Edge are finished to a high standard and provide well-planned living spaces for any lifestyle. Apartments include a secure door entry system and a charming Juliet balcony, and all properties with two or more bedrooms have an en suite shower room to the principal bedroom. Kitchens and bathrooms are finished to Bloor’s customary high specification.

The Edge is located close to the centre of the historic market town of Dunstable. The town has 188 acres of parkland, gardens and open spaces and the pretty scenery of the East Chilterns is on the doorstep. The nearby Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade Wildlife Park provide a wealth of outdoor leisure options, including paragliding and hang-gliding for the adventurous.

Dunstable itself has everything you need for a well-balanced lifestyle. It has five principal shopping areas, all within easy walking distance of the town centre, which offer all the big high street names alongside an enticing array of independent shops and traditional markets. The multi-million pound Grove Theatre complex is the area’s cultural hub, regularly presenting national productions and local stagings.

Neighbouring Luton provides all the amenities and convenience you’d expect from a major town, including fast rail links to London and Luton Airport, with its comprehensive schedule of international flights. The A5, which runs through Dunstable, links to the nearby M1 and runs north to Milton Keynes, making The Edge particularly well located for employment opportunities and commuting.
