Sharp 70” interactive professional LCD monitor

28th September 2011 Print

Sharp UK have announced the launch of the new PNL702B, which is a 70 inch professional LCD display with interactive touch functionality.

The product differs from other professional interactive displays in several important ways.  Firstly the interactive functionality is made possible by Sharp’s own proprietary infra red system.  The use of this system means that there is there no longer a need to add an extra layer to the protective glass, which reduces image quality and brightness in many competitor models.

Another key benefit is a bezel width comparable to many standard professional monitors, giving the unit the appearance of a factory finished unit rather than the bulky and less attractive finish of many locally integrated products.  Also, because the interactive device is fitted at the factory, Sharp UK is able to offer an industry leading 24/7, 3 year warranty, as with all other models in its professional range.

Another important difference is the use of Sharp’s unique Quattron system.  Adding a yellow sub pixel to the usual red, green and blue, gives astonishing results and allows the LCD monitor to display hundreds of thousands of colour hues a standard LCD cannot reproduce.  The PNL702 also combines a full HD display with a full array LED back light system, which gives exceptionally low power consumption of just 240w. Uniform brightness and colour representation across the whole 176.6cm panel make it a truly multifunctional device suitable for a multitude of display applications including projector replacement, video conferencing and interactive whiteboard use.

The PNL702B is supplied with Sharp’s own Pensoft software and interactive pen as standard, which gives an immediate, out of the box, practical application for the device in corporate meeting spaces, training and educational environments.  The software seamlessly integrates with network printing and scanning devices opening up the possibilities of bringing hard copy or digital documents and images from any source to create a digital set of meeting or training notes. It is also possible to annotate, edit, save or print to all meeting attendees or training candidates, providing a permanent digital record and audit trail and eliminating the security issues caused by traditional flip charts and white boards.

Sharp UK will begin sales in early October 2011, and the PNL702B will be available for pre launch customer demonstrations by appointment with the sales team.  Trade customers will also get the opportunity to see the unit at the Technology Exposed event held between the 21st and the 22nd September at the Ascot race course in Berkshire, and again at the Sharp and Matrox co-Hosted Emerging Video Wall Technology Showcase 2011 held at Sharp’s Cavendish Square showroom in central London on September 29th.
