Land acquired by Taylor Wimpey in Swinton
Taylor Wimpey Manchester has acquired planning permission to build 117 houses on land at the former Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, off Hospital Road, Swinton.
Named Nightingale Gardens, the development is due to open in November and will have two bedroom apartments and mews homes, three bedroom mews and semi-detached homes and four bedroom detached homes.
The homes are expected to appeal to first time buyers, families and downsizers.
The Government’s FirstBuy scheme, which supports first time buyers who could not otherwise afford the large deposits now required by mortgage lenders, is available at Nightingale Gardens.
Due to limited availability of the scheme, Taylor Wimpey Manchester is advising interested parties to register their interest early to avoid disappointment.
FirstBuy works through a joint loan of 20% from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Taylor Wimpey, which means that eligible purchasers only need put down a 5% deposit and obtain a 75% loan-to-value mortgage. The loan is repayable at the end of the 25 year mortgage term or when the property is sold. To be eligible, purchasers must be first time buyers and the total household earnings should be less than £60,000.
The development is ideally placed for travels to Manchester and the north west, thanks to the close access to the M60 and M62 motorways.
Anthony Mansfield, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Manchester, commented: “We’re delighted to be building in Swinton and we think that this development will really appeal to local people and will be an asset to the area.
“There will be a great mix of homes here which we believe will appeal to a variety of buyers and the transport links and proximity to Manchester city centre will make it a popular development.”
