Pupils at Bryn Hafren Comprehensive School got their thinking caps on when they were challenged by house builder Taylor Wimpey to come up with a name for its new development in Barry.

After receiving a number of entries, Taylor Wimpey chose Jorden Dent and Jessica Cottle’s suggestion of Golwg y Coed as the winner, as they felt it most reflected the development and history of the area.

Sara Taylor, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey South Wales, commented: “We were impressed with the standard of suggestions received and had a tough time picking just one winner. In the end we could only choose one deserving name and both Jessica and Jorden’s suggestion of Golwg y Coed won because it illustrates the beautiful woodland surrounding the development.

“Located on Pendcotre Lane in Barry, South Glamorgan, we hope the local community will enjoy the new development and that for years to come when the girls, or any of the students involved from Bryn Hafren Comprehensive School, go by Golwg y Coed, they’ll be proud to have been part of its naming. We would like to thank all of the pupils involved in the competition and look forward to further cultivating the relationship between Taylor Wimpey and the school.”

Both Jessica and Jorden received a £30 WH Smith voucher from Taylor Wimpey.

Taylor Wimpey’s new Golwg y Coed development offers a stylish selection of two, three and four bedroom homes, with playing fields and open space for residents to enjoy. Potential purchases can even take advantage of the the developers Part Exchange scheme which is available on selected plots.

The development is located just off Port Road, offering home oweners easy road acess to Cardiff and into the bustling town of Barry.
