Spendometer adds up for savvy spenders
Financial education website Moneybasics.co.uk has expanded its innovative free Spendometer budgeting tool to iPhones, Android phones and all Java-enabled mobile phones in response to a surge in demand.
Downloads of the calculator – which enables users to create personal budgets as well as controlling spending by receiving alerts when they go over spending limits – are running at around 100 a day in response to ongoing financial uncertainty. More than 22,000 users have downloaded the Spendometer so far this year.
Moneybasics – a partnership between Credit Action and GE Money Home Lending – has launched a new version for iPhones which is available direct from Apple’s iStore, Android versions are available by text and from the App Market with java versions accessible by text from the Spendometer website.
Liz Dunscombe, Director of Project and Partnership Development at Credit Action commented: “Keeping control of spending is vital when finances are stretched and while most people quite reasonably do not walk around with budgeting and finance on their minds, the majority do have a mobile phone in their pocket.
“Making the Spendometer available on more platforms will make it easier for more consumers to benefit from this very helpful tool.”
Users can enter spending on their phone and keep a record as well as setting spending limits and receiving reports of how they have spent either daily, weekly or monthly. It also has a credit function to record anything bought on credit, plus the ability to track spending and users can check if they can afford something before buying it.
To download the Spendometer for free consumers can visit spendometer.co.uk where they can enter their number and the tool will be sent direct to their phone.
