Location and affordability key for new homes in Wigan

Situated in a prime position close to the town centre and with help available for homebuyers, new Redrow homes in Wigan are sure to be popular.
The award-winning housebuilder recently launched its latest venture, College Court on the site of the former St Thomas More High School, offering a choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes.
A dedicated sales office is now open on site and Redrow has teamed up with local agents the Property Warehouse to market the properties.
Sammy Lloyd, from the Property Warehouse, commented: “Redrow is a well known and respected housebuilder with national acclaim and we are proud to be working with them. It’s a real privilege to have been given the chance to promote the new homes they are building at College Court in Wigan. We’ve been very impressed by the quality of the designs.
“The variety of homes available and the combination of traditional exteriors and bright modern interiors means that they will have broad appeal.”
The homes have already attracted interest from a variety of potential purchasers, including those who are looking to move up the property ladder, downsizers and people who want to take advantage of the Government-backed FirstBuy scheme to buy their first home.
Designed to make homeownership more affordable with the help of a 20% equity loan towards the cost, FirstBuy is open to those with an annual household income of less than £60,000.
It means a two-bedroom Evesham style home, available to buy on the open market for £113,995, could be purchased for an initial outlay of just £91,196. The loan for the remaining share is interest free for the first five years and can be paid back when the home owner has more funds available or comes to resell.
However, some of the three and four-bedroom family homes at College Court are ideal for those moving up the property ladder and those yet to sell their current home may be able to use it as part-payment for a brand new home under part-exchange.
“We’ll be working with Redrow to assist their customers in selling the home they want to leave behind so that they can make a new start at College Court,” Sammy added.
“The homes are in a brilliant location, with a supermarket on the doorstep and a wealth of shops at the nearby retail park. It’s a really convenient place to live as the town centre is about a mile away and the M6 is easily accessible, making College Court a good base for commuters.”
