With the cost of living continuing to rise and mortgage lenders expecting big deposits, it’s no wonder so many people today are choosing to rent rather than buy. So you may be surprised to find out then that, with Taylor Wimpey, it can actually work out cheaper to buy a new home rather than rent one!

Iain Buchanan discovered that this was the case when he paid a visit to Taylor Wimpey Midland’s Diglis Water development in Worcester. After doing some research and speaking to the sales team, the desicion to buy rather than rent was an easy one.

Ian comments: “I moved from Scotland to Worcester with work so I really didn’t know the area. I’d never rented before and was shocked to find out that renting in Worcester was so expensive! I was used to living comfortably in a good sized three bedroom bungalow but for the same money in rent I would have to downgrade to a tiny little one bedroom flat! I happened to come across Diglis Water and, after doing my homework, realised that in terms of my monthly repayments, it would actually be cheaper to buy a property than rent one!

“I was in the fortunate position to have a deposit so moving to Diglis became the obvious choice. Taylor Wimpey was very helpful and the development itself is a stunning place to live. I’ve met lots of new people through living here and instead of throwing my money away on rent I’ll never get back; I’m investing in my future by putting my money into bricks and mortar.”

Anne Wallace, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Midlands, adds: “Iain is a perfect example of how it is actually becoming increasingly more cost effective to buy a home rather than rent. Iain was lucky as he had the deposit required but even if you don’t we have an array of schemes designed to help house hunters move onto the property ladder, making buying a property not as daunting or expensive as you might think. If you’re looking for your first home I suggest you come down to one of our developments and talk to our sales executives – you may be surprised by what you can afford.”

Diglis Water, which has won an NHBC Quality Award and a Seal of Excellence Award, is situated where the Birmingham and Worcester canal meets the River Severn and has breathed new life into Worcester’s riverside. Currently available is a range of stunning one and two bedroom apartments, three bedroom penthouses and four bedroom townhouses.

Prices currently start from £144,995 (£123,246* using Easystart) for a one bedroom apartment, £219,995 for a four bedroom townhouse and from £419,995 for a three bedroom penthouse with stunning views over Worcester.
