Muddy Boots spreads its retail wings

14th November 2011 Print

Muddy Boots has won two new retail contracts to supply its Aberdeen Angus beef burgers.

Midcounties Co-operative, part of the UK's fifth biggest food retailer, has initially placed Muddy Boots's burgers into 18 West Midlands stores, and Budgens, owned by The Musgrave Group, which has 176 independently owned local food stores in England and Wales, will make them available nationwide from this Saturday, 19 November.

Both retailers expressed an interest in Muddy Boots' burgers as part of their strategies to continue to provide their customers with exceptional quality, British farmed food.

Muddy Boots, which is owned by husband and wife team Roland and Miranda Ballard, has been supplying Waitrose and Ocado for just over a year and is now looking forward to this next chapter.

Roland Ballard, co-founder of Muddy Boots, said: "This is a terrific time for us to be expanding. As a small business, it is important that we do this at the right time so as not to jeopardise the strength and efficiency of the contract nor, vitally, the quality of the product. We are so happy that we are ready to take these next steps now and to be able to introduce our burgers to more shoppers."

Miranda Ballard, co-founder of Muddy Boots, added:  "We are on a mission to 'free the burger' and are thrilled at winning both The Midcounties Co-operative and Budgens contracts.  This further endorsement of our burgers means that more shoppers will be able to buy our burgers and see that they are a nutritious, versatile and convenient meal option for the home kitchen."

Muddy Boots already has a busy lead up to Christmas with its limited edition Camembert and Cranberry beef burger hitting the shelves last week (w/c 7 November). The burger combines the succulent top cuts of Aberdeen Angus beef, which Muddy Boots always uses in its burgers, with the smooth creaminess of the Camembert and the sweet bite of the cranberries.
