After the excesses of Christmas, The Granville at Barford is inviting diners to detox and enjoy a range of tasty Vegetarian dishes with its special ‘Vegetarian Week’. The week, which will run from Monday 30 January to Saturday 4 February, will incorporate 5 starters and 5 mains courses all made from fresh locally sourced produce and delicious seasonal vegetables. The Granville is inviting diners to come up with their favourite and most imaginative vegetarian recipes that they would like to see on the menu. The most inspirational recipes will then be selected and created by the team of chefs for diners to enjoy. The normal menu will also be available.

Val Kersey, Proprietor, said: “Most people have had enough of turkey and food overload after Christmas so we thought a special Vegetarian Week at the end of January was an excellent idea. Great tasting vegetarian foods are really healthy, natural and delicious. There are plenty of vegetarians who must be bored with the same old dishes such as lasagna so we want to inspire diners to come up with some really good unusual dishes for us to create!”

A well balanced vegetarian diet is known to bestow a wide range of health benefits. Research has shown vegetarians to suffer less heart disease, hypertension, obesity, diabetes, various cancers, diverticular disease, bowel disorders, gall stones, kidney stones, and osteoporosis. The Vegetarian food market is huge and has grown from £333 million in 1996 to £739 million in 2008 (Mintel), showing that a lot more vegetarian food is being eaten throughout the UK.

The Granville at Barford is no stranger to running special week-long themed menus. It recently ran a very popular Seafood Festival and Game Fayre which were huge triumphs. For more information, visit granvillebarford.co.uk.
