E-Types steal the show

Classic Motor Cars of Bridgnorth and Jaguar Cars marked the end of the 50th anniversary year of the Jaguar E-Type with a stunning display of everything that is Jaguar at this years’ Lord Mayors Show in London on Saturday November 12th.
 
Driving the first right hand drive coupe to come off the production line was Jaguar’s test driver of 46 years Norman Dewis, who had just celebrated his 91st birthday. Nick Goldthorp, CMC’s Managing Director, drove the prototype E-type.
        
“We wanted to mark the end of what has been an incredible year for the marque,” said Pater Neumark, the Chairman of Classic Motor Cars, “and show the history of the car as well as what is available now.
 
Dick Skipworth led the parade with his Ecurie Ecosse transporter complete with Jaguar C-Type and Jaguar D-Type.
 
Bringing up the rear were the latest cars from Jaguar, an XKR-S and an XJ saloon.
 
The cars got a great reception along the route and when Norman was asked by BBC presenter Clare Balding how the first production E-type handled he answered: “Superb – just like a beautiful lady.”
