Yorkshire is home of mortgage best buys

Yorkshire Building Society is looking forward to offering borrowers even more great mortgage deals in 2012 after achieving the most Best Buys across all lenders in 2011.

According to the round-up for 2011 from Kantar Media's PressWatch Financial(CORRECT), Yorkshire Building Society offered 1,594 mortgage Best Buys during the year, more than 16 per cent higher than its next nearest competitor.

Yorkshire's Group Direct Mortgage Manager Chris Smith said: "With these findings from Kantar Media's PressWatch Financial, the Yorkshire can successfully claim the title of ‘home of the Best Buy'.

"This ranking was achieved through our wide choice of excellent value products for all consumers, meeting as many different needs as possible, whether you have a smaller or larger deposit, products specifically for first time buyers, offset, and a range of fees.

"As a mutual, we're committed to offering our members the best possible deals and we will work hard in 2012 to continue to offer the most competitive products."

Chelsea Building Society, part of the Yorkshire Building Society group since its merger in April 2010, moved up the Best Buy tables to be placed fourth in 2011, with 858 Best Buys, ahead of much larger competitors.
