Steenbergs Organic, Yorkshire's leading herbs and spices company is teaming up with spice-loving chef and Fairtrade campaigner Sophie Grigson for a fabulous spice-filled lunch and cookery demonstration at The Oak Tree, Helperby on Monday, 26th March.

Steenbergs Organic, the first company to bring Fairtrade spices into the UK, knew that Sophie was the perfect partner, following the launch of her cookbook 'Spices' in October last year.  Both Steenbergs and Sophie Grigson are dedicated to the provenance of their ingredients, ensuring that they have the highest quality and best ethical origin, and are keen to demonstrate how the huge variety of spices available from Steenbergs Organic can be used to create delicious meals.  From chillies to cinnamon, saffron to star anise, the origin and story behind many spices only adds to their enchantment.

"Spice are so familiar that much of the time we ignore their provenance, but they carry within them an unparalleled magic - one that inspires greed, lust, romance, nostalgia and perhaps most importantly of all, the power to enthral cooks and consumers alike", says Sophie Grigson in the introduction to her latest book.

Given the importance of provenance, it made perfect sense to host the demonstration at The Oak Tree, Helperby, part of the award-winning Provenance Inns' group.  Well-known for its fabulous food and welcoming atmosphere The Oak Tree is thrilled to host an event that celebrates such a key culinary ingredient.

The lunch demonstration will take place on Monday 26th March at The Oak Tree, Helperby, and includes coffee on arrival, a glass of bubbly, a delicious 2 course lunch and a brilliant demonstration from Sophie Grigson showcasing some of her spiciest numbers from the new cookbook 'Spices'.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet Sophie Grigson and see her cooking dishes from her book in such an intimate setting.  There will definitely be plenty of sampling and savouring, a chance to learn more about using spices in your own cooking and the unique opportunity to purchase a signed copy of Sophie Grigson's book.

Let your senses be stimulated by the aromatic smells, sizzling samples and delicious flavour combinations as we open up, explore and present a treasure trove of spices.

Places are very limited for this one-off event. Please book early to avoid disappointment. Strictly advance purchase only.
