Emirates starts habitat regeneration at Australia resort

A major habitat regeneration project began last week at Emirates’ first luxury Australian conservation resort, Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa. The first step in a long-term conservation programme commenced with the planting of over 1,000 indigenous trees. The reforestation project aims to regenerate ecologically sensitive areas within Emirates’ Wolgan Valley Reserve and is part of Emirates Hotels and Resorts’ carbon offsetting initiative and its commitment to the protection of biodiversity.

Emirates buys 60 new aircraft

Emirates has purchased 60 wide-bodied aircraft to support the expansion of its international route network. His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, Chairman & Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group, signed a letter of intent with Airbus CEO Tom Enders for 30 Airbus A330-300s and 30 Airbus A350 XWBs.

On 28th July, Emirates took delivery of its first Airbus A380 ‘superjumbo’ at the planemaker’s new Jürgen Thomas A380 Delivery Centre. The aircraft was received by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, Chairman & Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group, at an official handover ceremony attended by President of Emirates Airline Tim Clark; Airbus CEO Tom Enders; former Engine Alliance President, Bruce Hughes; Jürgen Thomas, the “founding father” of the A380; the 2,000 Hamburg Airbus staff directly involved in the production of the A380; 58 Emirates cabin crew, representing the number of A380s the Dubai based carrier has on firm order; international media, VIPs and other guests.
