Skipton launches My Nest Egg Saver account

2nd March 2012 Print

It's the time of year when many of us are shelling out on Easter eggs. But Skipton Building Society is encouraging people to plough their pennies into a longer-lasting luxury with the latest addition to its innovative My Savings range.

Available online, My Nest Egg Saver replaces the My New Year's Resolution Saver within the Society's My Savings goal-based account range. It combines an attractive rate with easy access and the encouragement people need to keep what they are saving up for very much in mind.

My Nest Egg Saver is being added to the Society's innovative My Savings goal-based account range, and combines an attractive rate with easy access and the encouragement people need to keep what they are saving up for very much in mind.

Key account features

Interest rate: 2.50% p.a. AER (online), 2.25% (branch and Skipton Direct);
Minimum opening balance and subsequent investments, £1 - maximum investment £1 million;
Interest paid monthly;
Sole and joint account options.

There are now 13 accounts in the My Savings range -ranging from a ‘My Bills Saver' to a ‘My Retirement Saver' and, for those looking forward to a warmer time of year, a ‘My Holiday Saver'.  The addition of My Nest Egg Saver to this suite of popular savings products emphasises Skipton's ongoing commitment, as a mutual, to encouraging people to manage their finances responsibly by providing fresh and interesting ways to save their money and achieve their personal goals.

My Savings also complements the wide variety of other good value savings accounts Skipton has to offer, including some of the most competitive ISAs and bonds. The Society was among the first providers to offer the new government-backed Junior ISA.

Kris Brewster, Head of Products, said: "The need to having a healthy nest egg is something people often hear in financial discussions. But how you actually can go about making a start on this is sometimes less clear. In reality, giving yourself the gift of a regular savings contribution is the best thing you can do for your future financial plans. Putting just a little bit of money aside into a savings account every month can really build up.

"We're introducing this new account to provide the encouragement and reward people need to help them do so. Our My Savings range has proved very popular since we first launched it in October 2010 and our members tell us having badged accounts are really helping them achieve their personal aspirations."
