Kia awarded Investor In People status
Kia has been awarded the Investors In People accreditation following assessment during the autumn.Investors In People accreditation is recognised as one of the leading contributory factors to dynamic business development and features highly on the profile of most of the UK’s 100 Leading Companies.
Committed to a dynamic and ambitious programme of people-development, Kia Motors (UK) Ltd., has been working toward the standard over the last two years – since Paul Philpott joined the company as Managing Director.
He commented: “Any business that ignores the potential of its people and fails to seek to develop them as fully as possible is destined for failure – especially in the current economic conditions.
“As we seek to build the Kia brand here in the UK we must focus on helping to develop a successful and profitable dealer network committed to providing the very best customer experience. Ensuring our people are supported in being every bit as good as they can be is a vital plank of that strategy,” he added.
The Investors in People accreditation is just the latest in a string of programmes rolled out by the company’s Human Resources team.
After being nominated for its Dealer Training programme at the Annual Automotive Management Awards, Kia received a further nomination for its Employment Engagement Strategy at the HR Excellence Awards in July.
This was followed by a further nomination for the company’s Employee Engagement Strategy at the annual CIPD Awards, the most prestigious in Europe’s HR Calendar.
General Manager of Human Resources, Gary Tomlinson said: “I was particularly pleased when the IIP assessor praised the ‘inspirational’ senior management team because our success this year has been a real team effort under the leadership of Paul Philpott and it is our intention to keep the pressure up to make Kia Motors (UK) Limited one of the very best companies in Britain to work for”.
