easyJet launches Manchester to Tel Aviv route

17th April 2012 Print

easyJet has announced that it will begin operating a year-round service to Tel Aviv from Manchester this autumn with the inaugural flight taking off on 1 November.

Flights on the new route will go on sale from 19 April, with fares starting from £82.99 (one-way, including taxes).

The twice-weekly service will provide passengers in the region with flexible and affordable access to the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, as well as making it easier for Israeli passengers to travel to the North West of England.

Ali Gayward, easyJet UK commercial manager, said: "We’re excited to be expanding our Manchester operation by launching easyJet’s first route to Tel Aviv from the North West of England today. There is a very strong cultural link between the North West of England and Tel Aviv, with a large Jewish community in Manchester and the surrounding areas, and we hope this direct route will demonstrate our commitment to providing low cost flight options for popular routes.

"The service will offer great opportunities for both British and Israeli travellers wishing to travel between two of the world’s great cities," she added.

Ken O’Toole, Chief Commercial Officer for the Manchester Airports Group (MAG) said: "easyJet continues to grow here at Manchester and that is something we aim to support as they continue their growth plans across Europe. Tel Aviv is a popular destination that’s increasing in prominence and we know that it’s very popular for passengers returning to the North West and seeing friends and family in Israel."

Tel Aviv is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the Middle East, and is rapidly gaining an international reputation for its 24-hour culture. A coastal city, Tel Aviv enjoys beautiful beaches complemented by a vivid and exciting city life. Nearby to Jerusalem and Bethlehem, the city also provides an ideal base for spiritual travellers seeking to explore this ancient and historic area of the world.

easyJet launched its first route to Tel Aviv from London Luton Airport in 2009. The service has proved to be a huge success, with 270,000 passengers travelling on the route since its launch, and the frequency of the route has recently been increased as a result – operating nine times a week at peak times.

easyJet flies to 25 destinations from Manchester Airport including Berlin, Amsterdam and Athens.
