The Bachelor returns to Channel 5

29th May 2012 Print

Spencer Matthews, reality star and one of the country’s most eligible bachelors, is on a quest for the woman of his dreams. The Bachelor is a global hit format from Warner Bros. and Next Entertainment; the UK version is produced by Ricochet (a Shed Media company). The series will see twenty four girls compete to try and win his heart. Expect flirting, cat fighting and heartfelt emotion as the contestants do whatever it takes to impress Spencer.

Eton-educated Spencer Matthews started his professional career as a PR Manager for some of London’s top clubs, before becoming a broker in the city. He is also a trained actor and attended film school in Los Angeles. His family own the exclusive Eden Rock Hotel, St Barts. Spencer has also run several marathons and loves to skydive and snowboard.

During filming of The Bachelor, Spencer will have his pick of some of the most attractive women in the UK, from beautiful models to ambitious career women. Through a variety of group dates and intimate meetings, Spencer will decide who’s the right girl for him. He will have to whittle down the group of girls from twenty four to the chosen one and, along the way, learn exactly what it is he’s looking for in a soulmate.

Spencer Matthews said: “I feel flattered to have been put forward to be this year's Bachelor. The concept surrounding the show is a great one and will certainly make for an interesting adventure at this point in my life. After much consideration, I truly believe that the time is right to look for, and hopefully find during the process of this series, someone with whom I can share a loving and meaningful relationship.”

Emotions run high in The Bachelor - and not just on the dates. The girls will be living together and sharing the same space - and the same man! There will be real drama as they spark off each other and as real rivalries emerge. Whilst the girls share a communal villa in sun soaked Southern Europe, Spencer will live alone, but nearby, in a luxurious bachelor pad.

The programme will be filmed in some of the most glamorous, romantic and breathtaking locations in the world. The Bachelor offers an exclusive lifestyle normally only available to the likes of movie stars and the super rich.

Steve Gowans Head of Factual Entertainment said: “We are delighted that The Bachelor is returning to Channel 5 for a second series. Spencer Matthews is the perfect bachelor and we’re hoping he finds his ideal partner on the show.”
