The south-east corner of Sicily is well known for its festivals and, this summer, visitors can experience the Marzamemi Tuna Folk Festival with Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa.

Taking place from August 10-19, the festival, now in its ninth year, offers the chance to sample local delicacies, such as red tuna bottarga and smoked swordfish, as well as talks about ancient fishing techniques which are still used to this day.

In addition, folk music will continue throughout the festival and exhibitions of handcrafted products and art will also be taking place.

Situated in the province of Syracuse, a pleasant drive from the five-star resort, Marzamemi is a picturesque village renowned for its natural harbour and its use as a fishing port since the early 17th century.

A seven-night break starts from €917 per person, based on two people sharing a double or twin room in bed-and-breakfast accommodation, car hire is also available on request.

The resort has 202 rooms – each with terrace or balcony, Wi-Fi access, satellite television and coffee maker. Each is elegantly furnished in keeping with its status as a five-star hotel.
