Developer feels the Guided Busway effect in Cambridgeshire

Developer Linden Homes is feeling the effect of the Cambridge Guided Busway - which it says has become a major consideration with home hunters locally.
The busway was officially opened just under a year ago to ease the journey for shoppers and commuters from St Ives to Cambridge, taking in Longstanton and Trumpington on the 40-minute journey.
And with a cycle route running alongside it, and house price comparisons making it cheaper for commuters to live outside of their Cambridge workplace, it comes as no surprise that the busway is high on the list of moving factors for potential new homes purchasers.
Linden Homes currently boasts the successful Yes! development in St Ives, and the more recent St Michael’s Chase development at Longstanton – with both locations featuring on the 15-mile route.
The company says around three quarters of inquiries from potential buyers looking to purchase a new home in Cambridgeshire have highlighted the busway as a consideration when looking to move to the area.
Benefits include:
Longstanton is located just nine miles from Cambridge.
The busway runs regular services between all the locations.
Home prices in Longstanton are an average of £109,000 cheaper than in Cambridge, based on a three-bedroom home (according to home.co.uk)
For those who prefer two wheels instead of four, a cycle route runs close to the busway.
An easier commuting journey from St Ives and Longstanton into Cambridge, with the opportunity to leave the car at home.
Linden Homes’ sales director Steve Garton said: “We have some fantastic new homes in Cambridgeshire, and our locations are highly sought after by local people as well as potential buyers from further afield.
“Around 70 per cent of people who have shown an interest in the St Ives and Longstanton developments have highlighted the Guided Busway as a consideration, which tends to suggest that a high volume of people would prefer to reap the benefits of working in Cambridge while enjoying a more affordable lifestyle.”
