British-owned-and-run Riad Africa, one of the finest riads in the whole of the Marrakech Medina, has added an additional room taking the total number to nine, sleeping 18 people.

Comments Nick Anstead, owner of the 4-star Riad Africa: “Such has been the success of Riad Africa since its opening last year that we wanted to figure out a way to increase the number of rooms.

“Most riads are quite small and only have three or four rooms, which can be a problem with guests feeling on top of each other.

“Riad Africa was originally two buildings which have been knocked through into one; but such has been the skilful way in which the building was renovated that you would never know and what we have now is a large, spacious riad with one of the largest plunge pools in Marrakech.”

What was formerly the massage room and hammam has been knocked through to create a large bedroom, which looks out over the plunge pool. It has also been designed to have easy access for those with mobility issues.

The massage room has been moved to another part of the riad and a brand new hammam is being built on the roof terrace.

Riad Africa has a large, comfortable salon, perfect for enjoying a refreshing mint tea after a day shopping in the souks. It also has a large roof terrace with sun beds for soaking up the sun.

The Riad has a team of four staff to look after guests, including a talented cook who can serve delicious Moroccan meals on request (at a supplement).

There is also free Wi-Fi and guests are also given a local mobile phone, which is pre-loaded with useful numbers such as taxis and the Riad manager.

There is a currently a special summer offer of three nights for the price of two, for all bookings mad before 31 August for stays up until 30 September of £99 pp (two sharing on a B&B basis).

Flights bookable on request.
