Run and Become free summer workshops
Run and Become, specialist running store, is gearing up to support our momentous summer of sporting action. To share its expertise and celebrate 30 years in business, a programme of free in-store running workshops* is planned for the summer. The owner-run stores programmes’, being held in London, Cardiff, and Edinburgh, will cover different running styles and cater for all levels.
The free sessions are designed to help people learn more and improve performance. The workshops are inspired by the expertise of the teams. Run and Become is also able to define your running style through its unique Natural Gait Analysis and match this with the perfect pair of running shoes. The stores stock a range of over 200 models covering all running styles from trail and road through track to barefoot.
Natural Gait Analysis is a free service which has developed over many years. It is the study of running stance as observed in real-time on natural surfaces, rather than via camera and cushioned treadmill, which provides a far more accurate real world analysis. Customers are then offered a selection of shoes which can help them improve performance and/or avoid injury.
Shankara Smith, Managing Director of Run and Become, said: “We take huge pride in helping others enjoy running as a sport. With interest in running to be at an all time high this summer, the free workshop sessions will help people understand more about running techniques.”
“All our stores are family-run, so the level of service is based on experienced advice. We know we are doing things right as many physiotherapists and podiatrists recommended us. The freedom of running is something anyone can enjoy to reap the health benefits, but having the right equipment will help you get more out of the sport.”
Runners are also welcomed to the stores for advice on clothing, nutrition, training and injury prevention too. With members of staff at many different running levels, their encouragement can be invaluable for those just starting out or established runners seeking to break their personal best or overcome a training plateau.
Ted McDonald (aka Barefoot Ted), an experienced barefoot running athlete, commented: “I think anyone who is part of this environment - where you get to have people like this who are handling your sporting needs, particularly running needs, then you're a very lucky person. If I lived in London I would be a Run and Become customer too.”
