Top 5 cruise holiday itineraries

5th September 2012 Print

If you’re stuck planning out your cruise route, look no further. These days, it helps to look for pre-determined itineraries, especially if you don’t want to go through the hassle of doing everything by yourself.

Any cruise line should have multiple options for potential passengers and there are some great value, unforgettable trips out there through in the form of P&O cruise deals.

Here are our five favourite cruise itineraries.

1. Star Clippers Cruise

This year, Star Clippers Cruises have introduced a brand new set of exciting Baltic itineraries. Scheduled stops include Sweden, Russia, Finland, Stockholm, Estonia and more in the area.

The new itineraries are proving popular as they schedule visits to the lesser-known and travelled ports along the Baltic Sea. Unlike some cruises, the Star Clippers Cruise allows passengers extra time to go exploring; a definite added bonus.

2. Avalon Waterways

Coupled with the launch of its new luxury ship, Avalon Waterways is also launching the first Mekong River cruise in history. The new itinerary will take passengers to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Siem Reap, Cambodia.

This opulent affair is truly for those who enjoy privacy, comfort and above all, luxury. There’s space for just 32 passengers in 16 staterooms, all skilfully built in a traditional style.

The itinerary will take passengers through the lesser-known Vietnamese and Cambodian villages. There are 7 nights on cruise, and 7 nights on land.

3. Crystal Cruises Itinerary

Party animals unite – Crystal Cruises’ brand new itinerary promises a voyage of sheer fun, stopping over at some essential Brazilian party stops, which include Buzios, and Paraty before continuing onwards to Uruguay and Buenos Aires.

The first scheduled overnight stopover will be in Rio, during the Carnival. The cruise ship itself is highly-geared towards those who want to experience real fun. It features a casino, loads of bars and karaoke.

4. Windstar Cruises Itinerary

Windstar Cruises have just introduced a new itinerary that will take its passengers on a sublimely romantic cruise holiday around Italy.

Embarking in Rome, this new itinerary takes care to include major areas of interest, like the capital city as well as Pompeii, and the islands or Sardina and Sicily. The wine, the views, the sunsets, and the glorious Italian food – what’s not to like?

5. Oceania Cruises Itinerary

Launched in April this year, this Oceania Cruises itinerary will take passengers from Athens to Rome.

The only problem with this cruise is that passengers might not even notice the port of calls; you will be far too distracted with the insanely delicious food on board!

There was a time when you would have to fly out to the Caribbean or Mediterranean to enjoy the best cruises, but the quality of cruises from Southampton is very high. Check which ones you can find that leave from this south coast port and avoid the hassle of the airports.
