Costa Navarino, the prime sustainable destination in the Greek region of Messinia in southwest Peloponnese, is set to entice more British travellers next year with the announcement of easyJet’s new direct flights from London Gatwick to Kalamata airport.

From July 2013, easyJet will ease the connection between the hectic London city to the tranquil Messinian coast, significantly reducing the transfer time and making Costa Navarino an easy-to-reach five-star luxury escape. Kalamata Airport at Messinia‘s capital, is located 45 min away from Costa Navarino. Olive groves, green hillsides and unrivalled views to the Ionian Sea, come together for a scenic drive in the region.

The region of Messinia is immersed in an unspoilt natural seaside landscape and beauty, offering a relaxing and rejuvenating option for UK travellers. Year round mild temperatures in the region make Costa Navarino an ideal destination for every season.

Guests can look forward to unwinding in five-star accommodation and facilities offered at the two luxury hotels: The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort & The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino. Under the clear blue skies, guests partake in a huge variety of activities and cultural experiences, while being introduced to a wide variety of gastronomy offerings. Messinia’s culinary offerings are also abound, including indigenous natural and fresh produce. Children enjoy tailor-made facilities, whereas for those who want to embrace their athletic side, sports on offer in the surrounding Messinian countryside include hiking, mountain-biking, water sports, sailing and many other options that can also introduce them to the region’s rich culture. Its history, that spans 4,500 years, includes noteworthy monuments, and will also present an interesting approach for British travellers looking to endeavour in the presence and key role of the British people in significant historic events, such as in the 1827 Battle of Navarino.

The destination’s two golf courses, The Bay Course and The Dunes Course, both offer a challenging round of golf for beginners and experts with a backdrop of panoramic seascape views. After an active day, the 4,000 square-metre Anazoe Spa provides total rejuvenation with therapeutic olive-oil treatments (oleotherapy®) based on ancient local practices inscribed on clay tablets discovered at the nearby Palace of Nestor, and drawing on Ancient Greek health and beauty practices.
