House hunters in Didcot have been snapping up the range of homes at Taylor Wimpey’s Great Western Park development, so much so that the housebuilder has now released a new phase of properties early to meet demand.

The first homes to be released on the new phase include the two bedroom Beckford and Canford housetypes. Priced from just £194,995 they bring home ownership within reach for prospective first time buyers and young professionals. Both homes feature a kitchen and open plan living/ dining area, which is complemented by French doors to the rear garden. The downstairs cloakroom and under stairs storage cupboard provide additional practical touches. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms, one of which benefits from built in storage space and a master bathroom. The Canford also has an en-suite shower room to the master bedroom.

Darren McCormack, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Oxfordshire, said: “We have continued to experience high demand from first time buyers for our range of starter homes at Great Western Park, with house hunters keen to take advantage of schemes such as FirstBuy and NewBuy to secure an affordable mortgage deal.”

FirstBuy works through a joint loan of 20% from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Taylor Wimpey, which means that eligible purchasers only need put down a 5% deposit and obtain a 75% loan-to-value mortgage. The loan is repayable at the end of the 25 year mortgage term or when the property is sold. To be eligible, purchasers must be first time buyers and the total household earning should be less than £60,000.

NewBuy is accessible to all credit-worthy first time buyers and home movers across England, and is available on new build properties up to the value of £500,000. Through the Government-backed scheme purchasers can access 95% mortgages and only need pay a minimum deposit of 5% of the value of the property.

Other properties currently available at Great Western Park include two bedroom apartments priced from just £147,200 using the FirstBuy scheme; three bedroom properties priced at £247,000 and four bedroom homes starting from £285,000.

Located in the vibrant town of Didcot, Great Western Park offers a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs right on your doorstep. There are also a variety of schools as well as Oxford University just 10 miles away.

The development is in a perfect location for commuters with the A34, M4 and M40 all within easy reach as are key commercial centres such as Oxford, Newbury, Swindon and Reading. While Didcot Parkway railway station has regular services to London Paddington, with a journey time of around 20minutes.
