A renowned prize has been awarded to Taylor Wimpey in recognition of the green open spaces, woodland and parkland at the leading housebuilder’s collection of new homes in Cambourne.

Taylor Wimpey East Anglia has scooped a prestigious industry award for the pioneering landscape design at the community of properties in Cambourne, Cambridgeshire.

Taylor Wimpey and Bovis Homes, which are jointly delivering the pioneering settlement of new homes for sale in Cambourne, clinched a silver award in the Best Landscape Design category at the What House? Awards.

Through its innovative Green Infrastructure, landscape is at the forefront of the design strategy for the Cambourne property development, with well over half of the 400-hectare site given over to woodland, grassland, lakes and green open space.

Stacy Dornan, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey East Anglia, says: “This award provides yet more evidence that we offer so much more than just high-quality properties for sale in Cambourne. It’s a wonderful, sustainable community with an abundance of green open spaces providing a pleasant environment and plenty of room to breathe.

“Since its original masterplan was drawn up in 1995, Cambourne has been setting the standard for new-build communities today – particularly in terms of pioneering landscape design – and it is widely viewed as a model for the landscaping of new sustainable developments and eco-towns.

“We’re delighted to have been recognised with this prestigious award.”

The What House? Awards success is the second time Taylor Wimpey and Bovis Homes have been honoured for the Green Infrastructure at Cambourne. In 2010, the development won Best Design prize in the Landscape Institute Awards.

Taylor Wimpey currently has a wide range of homes for sale at three developments in Cambourne, including Churchill Gardens, where just one final four-bedroom detached house remains available for only £299,995, and Dukes Park, where three, four and five-bedroom properties are priced from just £204,995.

The leading housebuilder has recently unveiled a brand new collection of high-quality two, three, four and five-bedroom homes at Newton Grange, Upper Cambourne, where prices start at only £159,995.

Cambourne’s impressive range of local amenities within walking distance of the developments includes three primary schools and a nursery, with a secondary school due to open in 2013, plus a library, playing fields and play areas, a multi-denominational church and a medical centre.

The community is also home to a selection of high street shops, a supermarket with petrol station, a choice of restaurants, a pharmacy, a dry-cleaners and a coffee shop, while an exceptional range of amenities can be found in Cambridge nine miles away.

Sports and leisure facilities are available at Cambourne’s new sports centre and the Cambridge Belfry Hotel, just a short walk from the new homes.

For commuters, the A14 is a short drive away, with the M11 also within easy reach. St Neots railway station is seven miles from Upper Cambourne, putting the capital just an hour away by train.
