Sporty options for singles this summer

If you think that a singles holiday means simply sitting by the pool – or on the beach - all day, think again is the message from singles specialist, Friendship Travel.

Said managing director, Colum McLornan:  “Of course there’s nothing wrong with relaxing by the pool – and for many of our clients this is what a holiday is all about – but we have experienced an increase in requests from single travellers looking to ‘get active’ on their annual break.”

‘Sporty’ offerings for solo travellers this summer include seven-night holidays in Sardinia - that include complimentary sailing and windsurfing with instruction by qualified tutors – along with week-long walking holidays along the Lycian Way in Turkey, taking in ancient sites and hidden coves.

Prices in Sardinia lead in at £1045 per person inclusive of return Gatwick flights, transfers, full-board accommodation – with sole occupancy of a double room – at the three-star Perdepera Beach Resort in Tortoli, daily water-based activities (as above), aerobics and fitness classes, plus services of a local host.

Walking breaks in Turkey – available in May and October - cost from £635 per person inclusive of return Gatwick flights, transfers, accommodation with breakfast at the ‘small and friendly’ Forever Hotel in Ovacik, five guided walks and services of a Friendship Travel host.

Other sporty options this summer include UK walking weekends in the New Forest and Yorkshire Dales, scuba diving and golf in the Caribbean and water sports in Corsica.
