Victoria Falls

Twenty-thirteen is to be a fantastic year for Zambia, particularly Livingstone, namesake of the infamous Dr David Livingstone, explorer and adventurer extraordinaire. This bicentenary year IS the time to visit. Experience your own ‘Celebrity Challenge’ by taking on the mighty Zambezi rapids, visit Livingstone town for theatrical and musical Bicentennial celebrations or sip a cool G&T whilst watching Oxford & Cambridge Universities battle it out, past hippos, for the International Zambezi Rowing Regatta!

Dr Livingstone I Presume?

2013 is the bicentenary year of the birth of Dr Livingstone who gave the ethereal Victoria Falls her name upon uttering “scenes so lovely they must have been gazed upon by Angels in their flight”. Throughout the year there will be various celebrations & festivals from Kasanka National Park in the North, where you will find the David Livingstone Memorial and the burial place of the explorers heart, to Livingstone town itself in the South for music & theatre, the Victoria Falls herself and Livingstone Island.

A 10 night Zambian safari is from £2,650 per person including:

3 nights Kasanka National Park
3 nights Kafue National Park
4 nights Livingstone
Charter light aircraft flights
FB accommodation & all park fees, transfers, local drinks & daily activities
A guided tour of Victoria Falls
A visit to the Livingstone memorial
Breakfast on Livingstone Island (seasonal)

A Civilised Affair

Every few years there is a remarkable boat-race down the upper Zambezi River, above the Victoria Falls, where hippo & crocodile make their home. This race, The Zambzi International Rowing Regatta, sees established crews from Oxford & Cambridge Universities competing against the likes of Brown University from the USA and teams from South Africa & Zimbabwe. Quite unlike THE boat-race on the Thames this particular event has been known to suffer false starts due to hippos surfacing on the course! What better way to watch than aboard the stately ‘African Queen’ day cruiser, sipping a cool G&T!

An 8 night exclusive escape in Zambia & Zimbabwe is from £3,390* per person including:

5 nights luxury accommodation in Livingstone

3 nights safari in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

All transfers, park fees & guided activities on safari
All meals & local drinks
Breakfast on Livingstone Island
A day aboard the Zambezi Queen** with prime viewing for the International Regatta
*Final date for regatta TBA, during September
**Actual boat may vary

*All trips are based on two people sharing throughout

International return economy fares to Zambia are from £900 per person
