Earlybird special for Midnight Walkers

Ladies thinking of signing up for this year’s Midnight Walk are being urged to take advantage of the Early Bird Special which offers them a reduced registration fee.

The annual event organised by Bristol charity St Peter’s Hospice attracts hundreds of women every year and those who sign up before Tuesday 30 April will pay £12 instead of £15 to register.

The popular walk, taking place on Saturday 13 July, offers a 5-mile or 10-mile option which means everyone can take part and with the route taking in all of Bristol’s attractions, including the ss Great Britain and the Clifton Suspension Bridge, women from all over the city take up the challenge.

St Peter’s Hospice head of fundraising Jo Gibbons said: “We want as many women as possible to sign up for this year’s Midnight Walk early. With it being our big 35th anniversary year we’re expecting the event to be more popular than ever so we want to make sure we’re ready for the numbers!

“This is one of our favourite events as it always has such a fantastic atmosphere. Being a ladies-only walk many use it as a good night out with family members and friends – we’ve even had hen parties in the past!

“Lots of women dress up and wear pink and it’s just a great way to raise money for a cause which is so close to Bristol’s heart.”

St Peter’s Hospice is Bristol’s only adult hospice and cares for more than 2,670 patients each year as well as supporting family members. It costs £6.8 million to run the hospice with 77% of that coming from the generosity of public support.

Jo continued: “Although we are offering a reduced registration fee we still want the ladies to raise as much in sponsorship as possible so we can continue to support people in Bristol with life-limiting illnesses.”

This is the fourth annual Midnight Walk held by the charity and it kicks off at 10.30pm from Ashton Gate Stadium.
