A community starts to take shape at Alver Village

Work on Rowner’s regeneration started in 2007 and a couple of years since the launch of Taylor Wimpey’s Alver Village development in Gosport, its community has started to take shape.
Alver Village has provided local house hunters with brand new affordable homes as part of the award-winning project and this week marks the launch of the site’s Tesco superstore. On Thursday at its opening event, Tesco will be offering complimentary cake, champagne and orange juice for local customers.
Fiona Creed, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, comments: “Alver Village has come a long way since its launch, many home owners from professional couples to families have settled in and there’s a real sense of community spirit here now.”
“The housing market has seen dramatic changes since 2007 and recently the government backed scheme Help to Buy has already made it possible for a number of people to get on or climb the property ladder. We’re welcoming dozens of new home owners at Alver Village and through Help to Buy we expect to welcome many more.”
The Help to Buy initiative includes an equity loan scheme which will be available on new build properties up to the value of £600,000. There is no salary cap for purchasers and it is available to both first time buyers and existing home owners alike. Eligible purchasers will receive a Government loan of up to 20%, which means that they may only need to put down a 5% deposit and obtain a 75% loan-to-value mortgage.
The Rowner regeneration project has four phases which spread across eight years. Aside from the new housing Taylor Wimpey is building there are several shops close by for residents’ convenience and around the new homes there are well placed green open spaces, ideal for a quick stroll. Fiona adds: “If you haven’t been down to Alver Village to see the changes we’ve made recently, why not visit this week, and join in with Tesco’s opening activities on Thursday or Saturday.”
Taylor Wimpey has recently launched the latest phase of Alver Village where the three bedroom Denford house type is available from £165,000. If you’re looking for one floor living, The Tower at Alver Village consists of 64 one and two bedroom apartments where prices start from as little as £105,000.
Situated in Gosport, the development is also close to the town centre with its high street shops. The neighbouring town, Lee-on-the-Solent is conveniently located and just a short ferry ride away is the city of Portsmouth, with its many leisure activities and the popular destination of Gunwharf Quays. Alternatively, the M27 offers commuters easy access to Southampton, where the nearest airport is located.
