Mitsubishi production, sales and export figures for July 2007

29th August 2007 Print
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announced global production, as well as domestic sales and export figures for July 2007.

Total global production came in at 114,577 units, an increase of 6.9 percent over July 2006 and marking the fifth consecutive monthly increase since March this year. Production volume in Japan increased 7.7 percent to 67,407 units, the tenth consecutive month of year-on-year growth. This growth was mainly driven by increased output of the New Outlander for the U.S., European and Chinese markets, and of the New Pajero for the European market.

Vehicle sales in Japan in July totaled 16,955 units, a 19.4 percent decline year-on-year as sales were impacted by the earthquake off the coast of Niigata and as a slight increase in registered vehicle sales failed to make up for a fall in mini-car sales. Registered vehicle sales stood at 6,445 units, 0.5 percent up on the same month last year. Mini-car sales declined to 10,510 units, 28.1 percent down.

Overseas production volume totaled 47,170 units, 5.7 percent up over July last year. In Europe production came in at 4,718 units or 27.4 percent down on last year's figure. In North American production at 5,737 units was 24.4 percent down on the level seen last year. In Asia production at 31,207 units was 15.1 percent up on July 2006. This increase was driven mainly by a 113.1 percent rise in L200 pick-up truck exports from Thailand.

Total exports from Japan of 44,888 units were 24.5 percent up on July 2006, marking the ninth consecutive month of year-on-year increases. Exports to Europe increased to 18,546 units, a substantial 49 percent rise on the back of firm sales of Lancer and Outlander models as well as brisk shipments of New Pajero, New Outlander and New Lancer models. Exports to Asia rose to 3,625 units, a 28.6 percent increase over the same period last year as New Outlander sales remained brisk in China. Exports to North America rose to 6,224 units, 23.1 percent up on the July 2006 level as orders for the New Lancer boosted sales.
