First time home buyers in St Helens would be financially better off buying a property rather than renting, says leading home builder Taylor Wimpey.

According to Taylor Wimpey, rent for a two bedroom home in the town would cost upwards of £525 per calendar month. However, you could own a stunning two bedroom home at the popular Cunningham Grange development from as little as £308 in monthly mortgage repayments when you purchase through Help to Buy – saving £217 per month equivalent to £2,604 in just one year.

Lynne Vogel, regional sales manager for Taylor Wimpey North West, said: “Owning your own home, investing in bricks and mortar rather than lining a landlord’s pockets is extremely satisfying. It will therefore come as welcome news to many first time buyers that it is actually cheaper to buy with us at Cunningham Grange than rent in the area.”

Through Help to Buy, purchasers are able to secure one of these properties with just a 5% deposit. This means you could put down as little as £4,500 to reserve one of these new apartments priced at just £89,995. Under the scheme you get a mortgage for 75% of the property and the remaining 20% takes the form of a government equity loan (payable in five years’ time.)

Lynne added: “Our home buyers really do have the best of both worlds, not only are they enjoying living in a beautiful brand new apartment at our Cunningham Grange development, but they are also safe in the knowledge that owning their own home is actually the most cost effective option. It’s a win, win situation. I’d urge those interested in buying their own home to visit our development on Knowsley Road sooner rather than later.”

Our apartments are priced from just £89,995 and are perfect for first time buyers. They comprise an open plan living/ dining/ kitchen area, two bedrooms, bathroom and a Juliet style balcony (excluding ground floor apartments). These properties also come with parking.

Cunningham Grange is close to a wide range of local amenities for day-to-day living, both in the immediate area and nearby Eccleston. There’s also an excellent range of restaurants, pubs and bars locally. In addition, there are fantastic educational facilities for all ages, including several primary and secondary schools along with sixth form colleges.
