Ford announces Ford Driving Skills for Life training dates

Ford announces the first UK training dates and venues for its globally successful Ford Driving Skills for Life programme, as latest statistics confirm that road accidents remain one of the leading causes of death in young people in Britain.
 
Information from the Institute of Advanced Motorists reveals that young drivers under the age of 24 have twice as many crashes as commonly expected.  According to the Department for Transport, there were over 33,000 accidents involving 17 to 24 year old drivers in 2011.
 
The Ford Driving Skills for Life free of charge training programme concentrates on hazard recognition, vehicle handling, speed/space management and distractions - areas identified as the leading causes of accidents in this vulnerable 17-24 age category.
 
Since Ford DSFL was launched at the end of June 2013, more than 250 young drivers have registered their interest via the dedicated website fordDSFL.co.uk.

For the initial training sessions, flagship venues in Manchester and London have been chosen.  The Trafford Centre in Manchester is one of most celebrated shopping centres in the UK, with excellent public transport and local motorway connections.  Ford DSFL will be running here on both 7th and 8th October before heading south to London.  The ExCeL exhibition centre, home to events including the London Boat Show, Grand Designs and the G-20 summit, will host Ford DSFL on 11th October.
 
Ford DSFL debuted 10 years ago in the U.S. and is now active in Asia and other major countries.  It is supported by the Ford Fund, the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company, and has provided hands-on training to over 100,000 drivers and a further 500,000 online.
