10 recession-busting nights in

12th November 2013 Print

With just a few weeks to the Christmas festivities, many of us are tightening our purse strings in an attempt to save up for presents and decorations – and a great way to do that is to organise some great nights in. If that sounds boring – think again! The only way these night will be boring is if you’re boring!

With that in mind, here are my favourite 7 recession-busting nights in:

Come Dine With Me Night

Ever since the TV programme started, Come Dine With Me nights have been sweeping the nation like a hurricane of amateur cooking. I mean, why pay all that money loads of nights out when you can have loads of great nights in – and you’ll only have to do the cooking for one in five or six of them. Just in case you haven’t seen the popular show – take it in turns to cook a meal for a group of friends, who then score your efforts out of ten. All chip in for a bottle of champagne (or sparkling wine) and award it to the winner – who will, of course, share it amongst his friends!!!

Cocktail Night

If you want to skip the food and get straight to the drink – then cocktail nights are a fantastic night in. Make sure everyone is bringing a bottle of something different and then find some online cocktail recipes with which to plan your menu. This will give your night-in that night-out feeling – and all at a fraction of the cost.

Karaoke Night

Who doesn’t like to sing!!! Hopefully somebody you know will have a Karaoke machine, if not they’re cheap to buy and even cheaper to hire. If you want to do it really on the cheap – all the lyrics to all the songs ever written are available online and then just sing along to the CD’s. If everyone is a little timid – combine it with cocktail night and everyone will soon think they’re everyone from Freddie Mercury to Katie Perry.

Board Game and Beer Night

Another great fun night in that combines alcohol has to be beer and board game night.  Invite everyone to bring along their favourite board game and a six-pack (more if required), and watch as any initial apathy soon transcends into an all-out competitive-juiced fuelled fun night of competition!

Bingo Night

Another great night-in is Bingo, and it’s ideal for any number of people as you can now play online Bingo from the comfort of your own home. If you’re playing with friends, why not team-up and agree to split the winnings. This way you’ll be able to pay for your next night in or, if you win a big-cash prize – probably a night out! Even better, even no deposit bingo site Butlers Bingo are offering new players initial deposit bonuses, meaning you can get more games for your money.

Quiz Night

If you like a bit of good natured competition the quiz-night is another great one to organize. Try and incorporate as many different rounds as you can so everyone has a chance of being good at something. Ideas for rounds include: sport, music, films and TV, books, history and geography. If you want to spice it up further - do a picture round by cutting out some faces from magazines and papers and sticking them onto a sheet for people to name.

Movie Night

Get some popcorn or your favourite treats such as chocolate or ice-cream in and rent a movie or watch one of your favourites if you’ve got a collection – turn the lights off and you’ll soon think you’re at the cinema.
