Escape the rental rut with a new apartment at Alver Village

Aspiring homeowners can escape the landlord for good – and for less than they might think – by buying the home of their dreams at Taylor Wimpey’s fantastic Alver Village development in Gosport, Hampshire.
The cost of renting went up by an average of 2.7% between 2012 and 2013, placing a further squeeze on the already-stretched budgets of householders who are also facing hikes in energy prices and other utility bills.
The good news is that tenants can own a fantastic brand new apartment of their own at the prestigious Ark Royal House at Alver Village – and even save money in the process thanks to helpful initiatives such as the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.
Fiona Creed, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “Many people who are renting their home simply continue to do so, never entertaining the idea of home ownership because they wrongly assume that it is out of their price range.
“But they would be surprised to learn that buying will actually cost them less each month than what they are paying in rent. What’s more, with the Government’s Help to Buy scheme, renters who make the move to become homeowners may also find they can afford to upgrade to a bigger house than their current property.
“At Alver Village, there are a range of incentives available to help would-be buyers become homeowners, so renters who dream of escaping the landlord should not delay in finding out more about the properties on offer at Ark Royal House.”
Help to Buy makes purchasing a new home at Alver Village even easier and more achievable as it enables first-time buyers and those looking to move home to purchase their new home for 80% of its full price, including a deposit as low as 5%.
Help to Buy involves a Government loan of up to 20% and is available on new-build homes up to the value of £600,000. There is no salary cap for purchasers taking advantage of the scheme.
There is a fantastic selection of one and two-bedroom apartments available at Ark Royal House using Help to Buy, including the two-bedroom ‘Ketch’, which is priced from £120,000 and features an open-plan kitchen/dining/living room, two double bedrooms and a main bathroom, while there’s allocated parking outside.
Alver Village is located in the former garrison town of Gosport, on a peninsula jutting out into the Solent which is connected by ferry to Portsmouth. There is a Tesco supermarket at the development, and the town centre, boasting restaurants and bars, museums and a range of water sports, is just a short distance away.
Alver Village has its own community centre and community square and is divided into four distinct character areas, with a dedicated pedestrian and cycle route running along the southern edge of the development.
Parents will appreciate the choice of schools for children of all ages within easy reach of home, including Gomer Infant School, which is rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, and Lee-On-The-Solent Infant School and Siskin, Grange and Gomer Junior Schools, which are all rated ‘good’ and are less than a mile from the development.
Commuters will enjoy easy access to Junction 11 of the M27, which is convenient for Portsmouth, Fareham or Southampton. Portsmouth can also be reached by passenger ferry from Gosport, which runs seven days a week and takes around seven minutes.
