Specialist Morocco has acquired Kasbah Africa, an eight-suite retreat located in the Ouirgane region of Toubkal National Park, in the heart of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains.

The Kasbah – which has just undergone a total refurbishment – commands spectacular views over the Azzaden River Valley from its elevated position, high on a mountainside, and is just over an hour’s drive from Marrakech.

Comments Nick Anstead, Founder of Specialist Africa, “Kasbah Africa is a perfect fit for our portfolio of properties which also includes Riad Africa, Maison Africa and Riad Arabia in Marrakech, a tented camp in the Sahara plus Dar Tassa, a second Atlas retreat.

“As soon as I saw the spectacular location of Kasbah Africa, I knew it couldn’t fail to appeal to people who are seeking to escape the stresses of modern life – with total peace and quiet; the only sounds to be heard are the tweeting of the birds or the call to prayer from the mosque in the Berber village along the valley.”

The property has just eight, stone-built deluxe suites, each of which has 40 square metres of living space with panoramic, mountain and river views.

The suites – which can comfortably accommodate a family of two adults and two children – have spacious bathrooms and are furnished with hand-crafted, walnut furniture, with either two large singles or a super king size bed, wood burner, Berber rugs, a sofa and lounge chairs.

Kasbah Africa has a roof terrace, with sunbeds, tables and chairs – perfect for a sundowner gin and tonic or for stargazing in the crystal clear Moroccan skies (the Kasbah has telescopes which are free for guests to use).

Other facilities include a large swimming pool and lawn, Berber tent, extensive landscaped terraced gardens with abundant fruit and olive trees, a bar, lounge and a restaurant with log fires.

Guests are free to simply enjoy the peace and quiet or to engage in many of the activities which are available including guided walks to nearby Berber villages, Atlas treks, Toubkal climbs, nature trails, mule treks, cooking courses, and 4×4 trips to remote mountain villages and beyond.

Day trips are also available to Marrakech, Ourika Valley, Agafay Desert, Tin Mal Mosque and the Ouirgane Valley

For the first year of opening there is a special offer of a three night break from £245 pp (two sharing, B&B) including return private transfers from Marrakech and a guided walk to the local Berber village.
