Mindfulness Meditation for Dummies in Morocco
Healthy-holiday-company Satvada retreats has joined forces with Shamash Alidina, a highly regarded meditation trainer and author of the bestselling book Mindfulness for Dummies, to organise a five-day yoga and mindfulness meditation break to a luxury boutique hotel in Morocco.
The retreat will provide an introduction to mindfulness meditation, an ancient form of meditation that has recently become extremely popular in the west, on account of its secular, non-jargon and effective approach.
In addition to the meditation sessions, there will be daily yoga classes taught by Satvada Retreats’ co-founder, Lucia Cockcroft, who has been practising and teaching yoga for 15 years.
Mindful yoga, when practiced with awareness, hugely compliments the effects of the meditation.
Comments Lucia: “Mindfulness is a present-centred way of being that is scientifically proven to reduce stress, anxiety and depression, as well as boost mental focus, happiness, relationships and overall wellbeing.
“Anyone can benefit, regardless of age, background or experience; all that's needed is some commitment, and a willingness to be open to our experience.”
The mindfulness teaching on the retreat will cover the main aspects of the popular MBSR course (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction), often taken over an eight-week period. No previous experience of meditation or yoga is necessary to attend the retreat and a certificate of attendance will be given at the end.
The retreat is from 19-23 May and will be based at Hotel Tigmi, a boutique hotel with a spa and two swimming pools, located 30 minutes’ drive from Marrakech airport, close to the Atlas Mountains.
The break costs from £767 pp, (two sharing a room), or £869 pp for single travellers enjoying a large en-suite room to themselves.
The price includes two daily meditation and yoga classes, and four nights’ luxury full-board.
Flights are not included but both Easyjet and Ryanair service Marrakech. Return transfers can be organised by the hotel (£20 pp).
After the course, attendees will gain access to an eight-week online course, 'Live Mindful', worth £147 and which comes with the meditations in a downloadable format.
