Hong Kong

There's no better way to really get to know a city than experiencing it through the eyes of a local. The new, free-of-charge, 'Hong Kong Pals' programme from the Hong Kong Tourism Board, offers visitors the opportunity to meet with a Hong Kong local and get an authentic insight into Asia's World City.

The Hong Kong Pals are specially selected volunteers eager to share their passion and enthusiasm for the city. The Pals will provide insider knowledge, personal recommendations and tips allowing visitors to explore Hong Kong with someone who knows the city inside out.

Dawn Page, ‎Director, UK & Northern Europe for Hong Kong Tourism Board, commented; “The Hong Kong Pals Programme enables visitors to discover the hidden gems which are off the guidebook radar that most people miss, no one knows Hong Kong like those who call it home! We are pleased to offer this programme completely free of charge and strongly encourage visitors to make a 'Hong Kong Pal' and delve deeper into Asia's World City!”

Visitors are invited to book in a consultation with a Hong Kong Pal to devise a custom-made guided exploration of the city.  Also, specific Pals are available for insights on specialist subjects; visitors can discover the best locations for pictures with Hong Kong photography buffs, appreciate the city's heritage buildings with an urban planner or wine and dine with a local foodie amongst other niche areas of interest.

Visitors can now make an online booking and meet volunteers at the Hong Kong Tourism Board Visitor Centres in Tsim Sha Tsui (Kowloon) or at the Peak (Hong Kong Island). For more information, visit http://goo.gl/hwoxbC.
