Tee off for a great golf adventure

Great Golf Adventures – the unique holiday concept that combines adventure travel with rounds of golf at interesting courses around the world – has added five new destinations to its portfolio: China, Peru, South Africa, Thailand and Brazil.

The small group trips have set departure dates although tailor-made holidays can also be arranged for those who wish to travel privately.

Brazil: From the Falls to the Beaches, 9 days from £3495 pp

Highlights of the nine-day tour that crosses Brazil, from the waterfalls at Iguacu, via the vibrant city of Sao Paulo, to the Atlantic coast at Paraty, before ending at the iconic beachfront city of Rio, include: five rounds of golf, a guided tour of Iguacu Falls National Park, tasting the nightlife of Sao Paulo, a boat cruise at Paraty two guided tours of Rio – to Corcovado and Sugar Loaf – dinner at a Rio churrascaria restaurant and a night at Plataforma Samba club.

Peru & Bolivia: Clubs, Coast & Andes, 9 or 15 days from £1795 pp

Highlights of the itinerary include, four rounds of golf (five rounds on the 15 day tour), a guided tour of Lima, visit to the Lurin valley and Paso Horses, guided visit to Larco Herrera Museum, tour of Arequipa and Santa Catalina Monastery and an excursion on Lake Titicaca to visit Uros Indians. There will also be a visit to Tiahuanaco plus guided tours of La Paz, Cuzco, Machu Picchu, the Urubamba Valley and Huaca Pucllana (15 day itinerary only).

China: Golf, the Great Wall & Terracotta Warriors, 16 days from £2395 pp

This 10-day tour offers a journey across China with highlights including a guided tour of Beijing, a visit to the Great Wall, guided tour of the Summer Palace in Beijing, the Terracotta Warriors at Xi’an a boat cruise on Li River at Guilin, tour of Shanghai, evening cruise on the HuangPu River at Shanghai and four rounds of golf. There is also an optional week’s extension to sail the Yangtse Gorges and visit the Panda research centre at Chengdu.

Thailand: Golf, Elephants & Longtail Boats, 11 days from £1495 pp

This 11-day tour offers the chance to play five rounds at a selection of the golf courses of northern Thailand with some interesting activities including riding elephants, river rafting, riding the roads through the highlands, taking a long-tail boat, and visiting nearby Myanmar and Laos. There’s even time for a cookery lesson.

South Africa: Golf, wine, whales and wildlife, 9 days from £3195 pp

This 9-day tour offers the chance to combine playing some of the best courses in Cape Town, around Hermanus and George with other activities including guided tours of Cape Town including Table Mountain, visits to wineries and a brewery, a visit to a motor museum, whale-watching and an afternoon game drive.
